What Type Of Spender Are You, College Guide

Have you ever wondered what type of spender are you? Do you think you are managing your finances well? Or do you think you need to improve your spending habits?

Please be honest with your assessment so you can start living with healthy finances.

Trendy Spender

This is a type of spender where you would always want to get the latest items or to try out new things right away. For example, you’ve seen that a new iPhone will be released in the market. It doesn’t matter if you are stretching yourself way too thin. What matters most is that you have it. The drawback of this kind of behavior is that you might not enough money for emergencies and other more important things.

A good solution is to always have a 2-day rule. With this, you are giving yourself time to think if you badly need to purchase something. Be logical and don’t give an excuse such as, ‘because it’s cool’.

Another thing you can do is to track down your unnecessary shopping behavior. List down the items you’ve bought in the past and see how much money you have wasted.

Impulsive Spender

The spender who falls to this category is usually spending on small items – inexpensive, most of the time. However, when you add these all up, you would realize that it has already placed a dent in your budget or savings.

Like the trendy spender, think if you badly need to purchase items. It would also help if you start selling some of your stuff online. You will see the unnecessary items you’ve purchased over the years. And of course, by selling these items, you get back a little from what you spent. Hopefully, this will make you wiser.

Extremely Generous Spender

This type of spender means you are selfless – way too selfless. You want to pay for everything when you go out with your family and friends. And this means even if you almost have nothing to spare, you would still want to take the tab.

If you are this type of spender, we encourage you not to bring your credit card whenever you dine out with your friends. And just have enough cash for yourself. That way, you are in no way to pay for everything.

The same way applies if you are to buy gifts. Have a budget and try to stick to it. You don’t have to give everyone expensive presents, do you?

Go With The Flow Spender

If you are just going with the flow and just spending without even knowing how much you make every month, you are in deep trouble.

You badly need to sit down and assess your income or profit. Or in case you are still getting an allowance, start from there.

Now that you know how you have, start creating a budget. If you think you are overspending, then look for alternative ways to save cash. Perhaps, it’s about time that you learn how to prepare your meals. Or maybe, just cut your Netflix subscription for now.

Super Saver

You might think that a super saver is the best type here, but you got it all wrong. In this post, a super saver means you want to save even to the point of not enjoying anything.

Again, the key is here is to budget. You can always have fun because that’s also good for your emotional and mental health. Remember, college can be exhausting, and you need a bit of a reward system to release the stress. Just create a balance and you are all good.

Also, instead of just saving, you better learn how to invest so you can grow your money.

Can You Change Your Spending Habits?

Some of you might think it’s too late to change bad habits. But if you are determined to improve your finances, nothing is impossible. What’s also effective is to surround yourself with people who are also smart when it comes to money. Attend investment seminars too and you will learn a lot from there.

Yes, it’s going to be hard at first but once you get the hang of it, you will enjoy your finances more. Plus, you won’t have to worry if there will be bills left unpaid.
