Mental Games for College Students

While most people think that you must be serious when you are studying in college, let’s admit that it can be tiring, right? But what if we play games that are both fun and at the same time, can challenge our brains? You see, learning doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be boring and all books.

This post will share with you the best mental or brain games that you and your friends can try out. We’re pretty sure everyone will have a great time. And the best part is, you’d come smarter than before.

The Name Game

This is a great game, most especially for new groups. The objective of this game is to obviously remember as much name as you can. From there, ask all the participants to say their name with a corresponding body gesture.

Give them a minute to remember as much as they can and whoever gets the most is the winner.

Chess

The classic game of chess is definitely a fun yet challenging game for the brain. If possible, you can have a small tournament with your classmates. This is something that all of you could look forward to. Have a small token for the grandmaster so that everyone would be willing to step up their game.

Story Game

A lot of college students enjoy playing this unique game. It can also boost one’s creativity. What you need for this game is to have several objects and place everything on a table. We recommend having at least 20 items to make the game even more challenging.

Ask your friends to create a story using only the materials found on the table. Create a strict rule that they need to include all the items, or else they will lose. It doesn’t matter if the story will make sense or not. In fact, the more humor the story has, the better. Make it light and fun for everyone.

Crossword Puzzles

It’s always fun to solve crossword puzzles. This stimulates thinking, and it keeps your brain active. Fortunately, there are still a lot of books with crossword puzzles. Or if you are more comfortable using apps, that’s also fine. However, we do not recommend that you stick with this game all throughout. Chances are, you will get used to the pattern, and it will be easier for you to solve the puzzle. Try to have a break occasionally.

Rubik’s Cube

Here’s another mental game that is perfect even for college students. Again, have a friendly competition with your friends and arrange the cube in the fastest possible time. For those who are good enough at this game, they can finish it while blindfolded. If your friends are up for that, then go ahead and make the game harder.

Giant Jenga

You are probably familiar with Jenga, right? But since you are already in college, you have to make it more challenging by using giant Jenga pieces. When playing this game, you are practicing your abilities to strategize. And of course, trying to figure out how to carry big Jenga pieces adds to the excitement.

Sudoku

Sudoku is another challenging and fun game that can exercise your brain. Just head to your library and you’d probably find it in newspapers and magazines. Again, you can ask your friends to do it with you and see who will get it the fastest. But of course, if you want to do it on your own, that’s also fine.

These games are a good break from your usual routine as college students. These can be relaxing, and it takes away your thoughts from the stressful requirements at school. Let’s just say, it is healthy for your mental health.

We recommend having these fun games on a Friday night instead of just a plain session of drinking. It’s like hitting multiple birds with one stone. You get to socialize with your friends, relax, and at the same time, maintain an optimal memory which you can use for acing your grades in college.

And as you step out of the university, you can still use these fun activities. Even people who work for real will appreciate how beneficial and fun these games are.
