How to Become the Best Version of Yourself in College

College is an excellent time for self-discovery. It’s where you should start forming the best version of yourself. However, we all know that college life can have a lot of distractions as well. So, what are the things that can help you improve?

Fortunately, we were able to talk to several successful people and asked them how they were able to groom themselves back in college. You can follow their lead too. 

Visualize What You Want to Become 

First of all, you need to know what you want to become. Visualize yourself being at your best. By knowing what you want, you get to understand the things needed to achieve it. If this is quite challenging for you right now, then think of a person that you idolize. Is it your parent? A doctor? A politician? Or someone passionate about serving the community?

Know the Right Balance  

We understand that a lot of college students would like to get a high GPA. After all, it will always look good on your CV. However, it is also essential that you practice balance. Know when to study hard and when to play hard. 

Look for extra-curricular activities, or you can go as far as building your own club. From there, you get to learn a lot of things, and at the same time have fun. 

Explore the World

If you have the chance to tour and go to a different place, take advantage of that. There is so much to learn and discover when you meet other people with different cultures. You will have a better perspective on life. And if you are lucky enough, you will get to find your purpose. 

Check if there are exchange programs or if there are affordable tours that you can join too. It’s not a luxury but more of an investment for your self-growth.

Attend Conferences and Events  

To unleash your maximum potential, you should take the initiative to learn outside of your school. Check if there are scheduled conferences and events near your area.

Embrace Failure 

Failure is a part of life. Ask any business magnates, and they will share with you a couple of failures they have encountered throughout their journey. By facing problems and misadventures head-on, you are able to learn more. That’s what is important. It’s not how many times you fall, but how many times you stood up. 

Protect Yourself and Learn to Say No

As a college student, you are already old enough to understand what is right and wrong. You have to use your better judgment when making a decision. For example, gauge if your circle is a good influence. Do they encourage you to study? Or are they always forcing you to join them at weekend parties? 

Don’t get us wrong. Going to college parties is awesome. You get to meet a lot of friends, and you tend to relax your brain from all the studying. But as always, excessive partying can take a toll not just on your grades, but also on your health. 

It’s ok to say no, and always think of your welfare. Remember, being assertive can go a long way. 

Surround Yourself with Positive People 

This might sound cliche, but you have to surround yourself with positive people. They will genuinely support you whether you are at your peak or at the lowest point in your life. You see, since college can be challenging, it is natural to sometimes feel sad or anxious. But if you have a good support group, things become easier. 

Consciously Take Care of Yourself 

Another must, if you want to become your best version, is to take care of yourself. This is a conscious effort. Come to think of it, many college students would eat out or just grab a pizza or other unhealthy foods. But we all know that it could have its toll on your body in the long run. If you want to achieve your optimum condition, learn to choose your food wisely. If possible, prepare it yourself. 

Likewise, make time to work out and exercise. This doesn’t have to be hours in the gym. But a quick walk in the park should do you good.
