What Are Your Strengths?  

This is a logical approach when choosing the right college major. You need to know what your assets are so you can match it with the required skills in the industry. For example, do you love health and sciences? Which branches of sciences you are good at?  

You need to narrow down your skills and options. And yes, this could take time.  

Now, if you are unsure of your strengths, you can always ask other people to help you. Your families, friends, and even mentors may have an idea of your best skills. Sometimes, we are not aware of our strong points, and we need other people to identify it for us.  

But how about your weaknesses? Should you consider it when choosing a major?

Yes, you should decide based on what your heart truly desires, but you need to balance it. Do you think you can have a job if you choose it? Is the demand good enough?  

You can also try to research the current salary offered to people in the industry.  

We are not saying that you have to dismiss majors where money isn’t that big. But you may need to have a backup plan and look for ways on how you can earn a decent living.

Yet again, it’s always nice to know what are the downsides of choosing such professions or majors. This will help you evaluate if you can tolerate it.  Simply put, you need to be realistic. 

Likewise, there are many career advisors that can help you. They can direct you and find the right path by understanding your skills, desires, and even the current industry situation.  

There’s no need to rush your decision. Take as much time as you need. If you choose a college major half-baked, you might not like it and might even drop the entire thing. And that’s a waste of money, time, and effort. It’s better if you take a breather instead.
