Easy To Cook Recipes In Your Dormitory

There are times you feel that you eat the same food every day and it starts to get a bit boring and dull. Why not try and make your own food in your own dorm to experience a little bit of change? You don’t need to have a whole kitchen set to this. All you need are just the basics and you are good to go.

Here are some easy-to-cook recipes you can make in your dormitory.

Macaroni And Cheese

Who doesn’t want Mac and Cheese?

It is considered one of the best comfort foods you can have. It also reminds you of home sweet home just as your mother used to make it. All you need to prepare are your pasta and your choice of cheese and you are good to go. You can also make your own twist by adding bacon and jalapeno for a little bit of extra kick.

Healthy Apple Crisp

Craving for some desserts? Why not try making this apple crisp which is simple and easy to make. To prepare, you need:

  •  4 pieces of apple (sliced)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
  •  2 teaspoon lemon juice and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

For the toppings you will use:

  •  ⅔ cup old fashioned oats
  •  ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoon cold butter
  • and ice cream of your choice

To make this, simply mix together the sliced apple, sugar, flour, lemon juice and cinnamon. Then put it in a greased microwave-safe deep-dish pie plate. Prepare the toppings by mixing all the four ingredients then cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle it over the filling. Cover your pie with wax paper and microwave it in a high setting for 5 to 7 minutes. Once cooked put your ice cream on top and enjoy.

Salad In A Jar

Do you want something on the healthier side of things? Try making this salad in a jar made out of fresh veggies and your own “dormmade” dressing.

To make, you need to prepare:

  •  1 zucchini (shaved)
  • 1 yellow summer squash (shaved)
  • 1 carrot (shaved)
  • 1 fresh beets cut into matchsticks
  •  6 radishes (sliced)
  •  2 grilled chicken breast
  •  2 cups of lettuce
  • 1 cup of red leaf lettuce

For the dressing, the ingredients are:

  • 3 tablespoon lemon juice
  •  2 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  •  ½ teaspoon of minced rosemary
  • ½ teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper and 4 tablespoon olive oil

To create your salad dressing, mix all your 9 ingredients and whisk until you achieve the consistency you want. Prepare the container you will use and layer it with your vegetables and alternate with your dressing. Refrigerate it until it is ready to serve.

How’s that for a healthy meal?

Zesty Chicken Soft Tacos

It’s time for Taco Tuesday. Prepare your own taco with this easy-to-do recipe. The ingredients are:

Hot Pizza Dip

Pizza is everyone’s favorite. You don’t need to have an oven to experience eating pizza. Create a pizza flavored dip and have the same taste minus the effort. To do, you will be needing:

  • 1 package of cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded part skim mozzarella cheese
  • ¾ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 can pizza sauce
  • 2 tablespoon chopped green pepper
  • 2 tablespoon thinly sliced green onion
  • Breadsticks or tortilla chips

Using a bowl, mix the cream cheese and Italian seasoning. Spread in 9 on a microwave-safe pie plate. Combine both the mozzarella and parmesan cheese and sprinkle half of it over the cream cheese. Pour the pizza sauce, the other half of the cheese mixture, green pepper, and onion. Microwave it uncovered for 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese is almost melted. Try rotating it every now and then for even cooking. Let it rest for 2 minutes then serve with your choice of breadstick or tortilla chips. Now you can enjoy eating pizza without having to wait for the delivery time.

Making food in your dorm is fun and is a good breather from the monotonous food you get from your hall. Impress your friends with your “cooking skills” with these recipes and for sure they will be coming back for more.
