5 Tips for Writing College Papers

One of the first things that new college students notice about their classes is that writing papers in college feels totally different than writing them in high school. Do Your Research

Research is usually a major part of college papers. Make sure that you not only use the right kind of sources for your paper but that you cite every bit of information that you use. If you are not familiar with how to use a certain citation system, look it up online. Remember, college papers are held to a high standard and those who fail to properly cite their sources can actually run a risk of failing a course – or worse, they might even be expelled.

Your campus almost certainly has some kind of resources to help out students with their writing assignments. Whether this is a dedicated writing center, free tutors, or even librarians who can help with finding resources, they’re all there for you. Make sure to make the necessary appointments before you write your first paper so that you’re able to get the most out of these resources. Remember, there’s absolutely no shame in asking for the kind of help that your school already provides.

Don’t Forget Peer Review

One of the smartest things you can do in school is to get to know your classmates. If you’re writing a paper, make sure to reach out to someone you already know to have him or her look over the paper. This is a great way to get a second set of eyes on your paper so that you can be sure that all of your errors are caught.
