10 Cheap Destinations To Visit In The U.S.

You might be surprised by a few of the cities listed below. It comes down to knowing how to travel. Be sure to bookmark this article for your travel plans. You will be glad you did.

Let’s get to those 10 Cheap Destinations To Visit In The U.S.

1. San Antonio

There are no tips or tricks here. It’s simply not an expensive city to visit, but you can still see and do a lot. Just keep in mind that it’s very hot in the summer. As far as things to do in San Antonio, this includes the San Antonio Zoo, theme parks, the River Walk, shops, restaurants, and historic sites. The biggest draws are the River Walk and historic sites. You can find everything else in almost any city.

2. Savannah

This is one of my favorite cities, which is ironic because I thought I would hate it prior to my first visit. I appreciate history, but I also find it boring while on vacation. The biggest selling points for Savannah are the open-container policy, its walkability, the bars and restaurants everywhere you turn, and River Street. You also might like City Market and Forsyth Park.

If you want to save money, stay on the outskirts of the city. You can pay half the price and drive less than 10 minutes to be in the center of the action. Or you can Uber/Lyft.

3. New Orleans

The cheapest and best way to experience New Orleans is to buy a drink and listen to jazz at one of the venues around town. There is no cover charge. Just buy a drink. You will also appreciate the Cajun food and haunted sites, if you’re into that kind of thing. Just like Savannah, this is a very walkable city, and you can stay on the outskirts of the city for the best deals on accommodations.

4. Las Vegas

If you stay on The Strip, you’re going to pay a premium. The best value on The Strip will be at Flamingo, which is right in the center of the action. If you want to pay half that price, you can stay at the Rio or The Orleans, both of which are off-strip.

If you stay at the Rio, go out the back door and walk through the parking garage of the Gold Coast until you’re at the shuttle at the front of the Gold Coast. Take that shuttle to The Orleans, then walk down the sidewalk a few yards and wait for The Orleans Strip Shuttle. Both of these shuttles are free. Therefore, you’re staying off-strip at a discount and you have free access to The Strip.

5. Atlanta

In my opinion, there is nothing exciting about Atlanta. However, this article is about cheap destinations in the U.S. so it’s on the list. You can certainly find excellent deals on airfare because it’s a major hub. You can also find cheap hotel and motel prices. And you can get a 7-day MARTA Pass for $23.75. This includes train, bus, and streetcar transportation.

If you choose to visit Atlanta, you can go to the aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, and botanical garden. It might end up being one of the least memorable trips of your life. Just being honest.

6. Austin

Austin is known for its great music, food, friendliness, and outdoor activities. For the best prices, visit in June. Austin is partially known for 6th Street at night, but that’s a hot mess. You might contract an STD from walking down the street. Wear protection while walking. I would recommend staying away from that area and going to the more chill and classier bars and clubs. This will include high quality live music, quality food, and cool people.

7. Denver

Denver and the surrounding area is awesome. You have many locations and activities to choose from. This includes Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre (top priority), Mile High Stadium for a tour, Vail for skiing, Aspen for skiing and to see the rich and famous, Breckenridge for more affordable skiing and walking around town, Frisco for a hidden gem in the Rocky Mountains, and much more. The overall vibe is just chill. You’re going to like it.

8. Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston is well known for its food, colorful buildings at night, sunsets, plantations, high-end shopping, and nearby Folly Beach. Charleston itself is very expensive, but the prices for accommodations are half the price if you stay 10-15 minutes away.

9. Asheville, North Carolina

When you’re in Asheville, you’re going to see street performers, smell marijuana pretty much everywhere, and eat good food. This is a unique city in the mountains. You can also visit the Biltmore Estate, Pisgah National Forest, and the North Carolina Arboretum.

10. Los Angeles

This shouldn’t be your first choice. It’s overrated for a vacation. However, if you want to go to an active and dirty beach, drive through Beverly Hills to see mansions and palm trees, eat at food trucks, and find cheap deals on hotels that come with a complimentary breakfast, then this is the place for you.
